1 DRIVER EQUIPMENT: 1.1 HELMET/ FIRE SUIT: Helmet and flame resistant fire suit required. Neck brace required, fire resistant gloves and shoes highly recommended. Helmet - Snell 2000 or newer. Window net required. (Window nets to be mounted so latch is at top front of driver window.) 1.2 SEATS AND BELTS: Five (5) point safety belts, sub belt, and shoulder harness required. Belts should be replaced every 2 years. NO FRAYS OR CUTS. Seats and belts must be mounted to cage. Aluminum seats only. No bucket or fiberglass seats. 2 SAFETY EQUIPMENT: 2.1 FUEL CELL: Approved fuel cell required, no boat or stock automotive fuel tanks. Must be securely fastened inside trunk of car. Firewall must be between driver and fuel cell. All cell mounts must be steel, attached to frame/cage. Fuel cell must be in metal container. NO GAS CANS. Gas only. No alcohol. Vent check Valve mandatory- PCV valve acceptable. Fuel lines through interior must be in conduit throughout interior. 2.2 FUEL SHUT OFF: MUST BE CLEARLY MARKED ON/OFF. FUEL SHUT OFF VALVE MUST BE WITHIN EASY REACH OF DRIVER WHILE BELTED IN, AND BE WITHIN EASY REACH FROM OUTSIDE CAR. 2.3 KILL SWITCH: MUST BE CLEARLY MARKED ON/OFF. KILL SWITCH MUST BE WITHIN EASY REACH OF DRIVER WHILE BELTED IN, AND BE WITHIN EASY REACH FROM OUTSIDE CAR. 3 DRIVE TRAIN: 3.1 TRANSMISSION: Must be OEM Automatic with torque converter. No couplers. 3.2 SCATTER SHIELD: required. Minimum webbed rubber (i.e. belting) securely fastened between transmission and floorboard. No transmission cooling devices in interior of car. If cooling lines go through interior they must be steel and out of reach of driver. (Inside conduit is recommended). 3.3 DRIVE SHAFT: Drive shaft loop is required and must be constructed of at least 1/4" thick steel and should be mounted no more than 6" back from front of drive shaft. May use 5/16 chain. Drive shaft must be painted white. No Aluminum drive shafts. 3.4 REAR END: OEM rear end only. No quick-change devices allowed. Nine inch Ford rear end allowed, but must be mounted like stock rear end for that make and model. Rear end may be welded or posi. 4 ROLL CAGE: Full perimeter four-post roll cage must be used, front & rear hoop to the frame OK. Three door bars on drivers side mandatory. Door bars must tie into frame of car in three places. May have no more than three (3), 2" bars for protection in front of radiator, within confines of body, no wider than stock frame rails. May tie front horns together. All bars, front and rear must be inside body. Must use .095 tubing, at least 1.666-inch diameter for cage and door bars. Roll bar padding mandatory in driver compartment. (NO WATER PIPE INSULATION ALLOWED). Top halo hoop on all cars must have a bar diagonally from left front to right rear at least 4" above the drivers helmet. 5 CAR: 5.1.1 BODY: Any U.S. manufactured full body rear wheel drive, 1/2-ton pickup or passenger car 1950 or newer with factory steel top. NO convertibles, front wheel drive, four-wheel drive, or rear engines. 5.1.2 ALL GLASS, plastic, upholstery, rear seat, lights, and chrome must be removed. NO REARVIEW MIRRORS. 5.1.3 ALL WINDOWS in body will remain open. Sunroofs And T-Tops must be reinforced and enclosed. Firewall must be stock and in stock location. Holes in firewall must be covered. Must be able to install stock windshield. Windshield frame must be stock and complete from top of dash up. Full Floorboards must remain intact and visible with a metal firewall separating and sealing driver from fuel cell and trunk area. No interior tin or covers to be added.
5.1.4 ALL DOORS must be secured shut (welded, chained, bolted, etc). Doorjambs must remain stock. Drivers door panel only may be trimmed for door-bar clearance. Rear inner wheel well and trunk floor must remain intact. May trim trunk floor for fuel cell clearance or drainage. All hoods and trunks must remain stock and must be securely fastened. Hood must be secured by a minimum of TWO (2) quick release type pins. Stock hood hinges must be used. 5.1.5 RUB RAILS: no bigger than 1/4" by 4" may be attached to body from fender well to fender well, flush with body and painted to match car. 5.1.6 AFTER MARKET nosepieces OK. No after market tailpieces. 5.1.7 NO SPOILERS, wings, skirts, air scoops, or anything that alters stock appearance. 5.1.8 BODY DAMAGE must be repaired by next race date (Note: If your car is too badly beat you will not be allowed to participate.) 5.2 FRAME: 108" minimum wheelbase for all cars (Note: Unibody may tie rear frame to front frame). May tie front horns together. No Cutting or notching frame. 5.3 BUMPERS: Must be in stock location. Bumpers must be capped to fenders. No reinforcement of bumper is allowed. 6 SUSPENSION: No spacers, lumber, or chains allowed 6.1 FRONT SUSPENSION: Must remain OEM stock. No modifications allowed. Steering quickners ok. 6.2 REAR SUSPENSION: Must remain OEM stock. Rear suspension must match frame. 6.3 BRAKES: operative four wheels drum or disc combination. Brakes WILL BE CHECKED. No brake shut-off devises. Master cylinder must be OEM and in stock location. 7 TIRES/WHEELS: Wheels to be no wider than 8". Spoke steel wheels allowed. Right side wheels must be reinforced if stock- left side reinforcement is recommended. DOT Approved passenger tires only. Towel City recap dirt tires, McCreary G 60, Hoosier G-60, or D.O.T. 245 X 60 series tires okay. No grooving; no mud and snow. Tire size not to exceed 245-60-15. The first number no larger than 245. The second no smaller than 60. The third no larger than 15. No grooving; no mud and snow. NO Spacers allowed. NO Bead locks. 8 SHOCKS: OEM stock, in stock location. $10.00 claim on any shock on car following same procedure as engine claim. 9 ENGINE: All engines used in competition must be able to be used in conventional passenger car without alteration. Castings and fittings must not be changed. No machine work on outside engine, or on front or rear of camshaft. 9.1 BLOCK: Must be stock appearing. Absolutely no changes allowed. Flat top or dish pistons only. No limit on engine cubic inches, but must run GM with GM, Ford-to-Ford, etc. All cars must have an operable starter. HEADS: OEM Cast iron heads only. CAM: OEM stock grind only. OEM hydraulic lifters only. 9.4.1 INTAKE: Cast iron unaltered OEM intake mandatory. 9.4.2 EXHAUST: Cast iron OEM Exhaust manifolds only. Must have [2" maximum diameter, 6" minimum length] restrictor pipe between flange and muffler, no more than 12" behind flange. Exhaust must go between frame rails and extend past back of drivers seat. No exhaust through firewall or body panels. Must be dual exhaust- no crossover pipes allowed. Mufflers required not exceeding 95 DB at 100 feet. 9.5 CARBURETOR: All cars must run a 2-barrel carburetor. May remove choke, but no other alterations allowed. (NOTE: Carburetor may be claimed for $50, following engine claim procedure. Carburetor or engine, but not both, may be claimed by single eligible driver on any given night.) Conventional air cleaner housings only. No cold air boxes or air cleaner ductwork allowed. Carb adapter plate may be used (one inch max thickness). 9.6 RADIATOR: Must be mounted in stock location. Stock front core support must remain. No electric fans, no electric water pumps. Aluminum water pumps not allowed. 9.7 FUEL PUMP: OEM type mechanically driven fuel pump allowed. Fuel pump must be in stock location. Electric fuel pumps are not allowed. Cooling of fuel or fuel pump is not allowed. Pump gas only. No Av-gas, additives, or racing fuel allowed. 10 BALLAST: Weight may be added. All weights are to be painted white and have the car number on them. Must be securely fastened and not in drivers area. 11 BATTERY: must be securely mounted with steel hold down bracket and shielded. Batteries mounted inside vehicle must be in steel case, behind driver. 20 ENGINE CLAIMING RULES: 20.1 $225.00 cash plus exchange claim on engine, or Canadian funds of equal value. ($25.00 of this goes to the wrecker to pull the engine.). . No driver may claim unless he has competed at the track the two previous events as a member of DIAMOND MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY. Claim is in effect on opening night for all eligible member drivers and driver must have competed at the track and been a member on opening night to be eligible to claim the second night of the season. 20.2 Claim does not include: 1.flywheel, 2.clutch, 3.pressure plate, 4.bellhousing, 5.headers, 6.carburetor, 7.starter, 8.motor mounts, 9.sending units and switches for oil pressure and water temperature, 10.carburetor adapter, 11.fan and pulleys, 12.clutch ball, 13.clutch arm, 14.throw out bearing, 15.dip stick, 16.water pump, 17.fuel pump, 18.distributor, 19.plug wires, 20.valve covers. 20.3 First four position finishers must report directly to claim area and are subject to engine claim by any other driver finishing fifth on back in feature. Failure to report directly to claim area will result in disqualification and loss of money and points, for that evenings events, for the first infraction, it will be treated as engine claim refusal for second infraction. Any driver lapped by the fourth place car is not eligible to claim. Driver allowed one claim ONLY per event, regardless of outcome of that claim. In case of multiple claims on same engine, engine will go to qualified claiming driver finishing farthest back. 20.4 Driver making claim must drive his racecar immediately after finish of feature, under its own power, directly to claiming area. Only drivers and officials allowed in claiming area. 20.5 Claims must be made to an official immediately after end of feature race, and claimed engine must be completely removed within one (1) hour from time claim is made and driver agrees to sell claimed engine. 20.6 Claims must be made to an official. $225.00 cash accompanied with a valid DIAMOND MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY license. 20.7 Only Driver may claim engine and only driver may agree to "sell" or "refuse to sell" engine. First "sell" or "no sell" by driver being claimed is binding. 20.8 Promoter may claim any engine finishing in the top ten immediately following feature for $225.00. Driver claim takes precedence over promoter claim. 20.9 Refusal to sell forfeits all cash and contingency winnings for feature. Any driver refusing to sell engine, when claimed within rules, regardless of his reinstatement with DIAMOND MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY looses his right to claim any driver's engine for 2 races from date fine is paid. First refusal to sell will result in a $225.00 fine, before reinstatement. 20.9 All claimed engines will be removed from car at the track, buyer must examine engine before removal -- Once removal is started, sale is final. 20.10 Any sabotage discovered on claimed engine will result in driver being suspended from Competition for 30 calendar days and until $500.00 fine is paid to DIAMOND MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY the claim will then be disallowed and the money returned to the claimer.
EIRI (except in rare instances) decisions of DIAMOND MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY officials are final and binding without exception. READ THE RULES CAREFULLY
Note: The above rules are in effect starting the 2009 season. This does not preclude changes by the promoter as deemed necessarily .
